Happy New Year 2019!!!

January 1, 2019

My favorite part of 2018

It’s all my favorite.

Looking back on 2018, my heart is filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and joy!
I was recently asked what my favorite part of 2018 was. I thought and thought and couldn’t find a single favorite. If you know me (well, you do because you are receiving this newsletter), you know that I pretty much go through life like Buddy the Elf. I can find joy in just about anything!! My answer was what some might consider cheesy, but it is the truth. I am thankful for every moment of every day. Every interaction either brought me joy or taught me a lesson. It seems like my family grows every day.....and not biologically! Every friend I gain becomes a part of my family. MY FRAMILY. And I cherish every minute I get to spend with them.

The Family that plays together stays together.

In 2018, we have experienced some fun times with the kids.

Olivia, my free-spirited adventurer, went on a two-week road trip with her friends to Pasadena CA to see her favorite band, The Kings of Leon. They took the scenic route and saw a lot of our beautiful country. She started at Texas State in the fall, going in as a sophomore, and has been rocking it. She rocks at life, and makes this mama proud!!! She’s gonna change the world with her beautiful mind and heart.

Sophia is a senior!! Time just refuses to stand still. She is still playing basketball and the highlight of our week is always when we get to see her play. Being in basketball has played a huge part in shaping her into the amazing young woman that she is. She is a natural leader, which is accomplished by being an encourager. She is a blessing to everyone she knows.

“Baby Danny” is now the biggest of us all! I think he grew 6 inches this year!! He has not only grown physically, but emotionally as well. He’s turning into such a neat young man. His freshman year has brought him new friendships, new challenges, and a new outlook. He is on the basketball team as well, and again, the highlight of the week is seeing him play. The best part, though, is witnessing him being a good person and a good friend. I can’t wait to see what life has in store for him!!

Danny and I embrace every moment we have together and do our very best to give the kids the best of ourselves. They are amazing humans and we are incredibly thankful and proud.

Discover New Braunfels

Another highlight of 2018 was seeing my Discover New Braunfels project grow. With the help of Heartwood Marketing Solutions and Gruene Records, we were able to highlight many new (and existing) locally owned businesses. It brought attention to these amazing, hard working business owners who got to tell their stories during our interviews. It has been such a fun project and the friendships I made along the way have made this beyond worthwhile!! Check us out on our facebook page @Discover New Braunfels or our website www.dnbtx.com.

Personal Life

Danny and I got to celebrate our 20th anniversary this year!! Oh, what a ride it has been! He has always been the best person I know. There isn’t another human being that I could have chosen for a better husband and best friend. I love doing life together and look forward to the next 20 and beyond!

Work life

In 2017, I was invited into the Anders Pierce family. At the time, I recognized that this brokerage was special, but just how special was yet to be discovered. I look forward to walking into our sweet building every single day. I love every agent in the office. It truly is a family there!! It represents what my vision of a brokerage has always been - a place where everyone lifts each other up, encourages, and helps one another. The support we get from the top is exactly what it should be and more. Heath and Matt are the best leaders, Paula is the best “team mom” and the icing on the cake is I get to work with one of my very best friends, Katy. We are truly set up for success!

Growth

I attended a three day conference in Phoenix this fall with some treasured new friends and RE colleagues. What I didn’t expect to gain was a fresh new outlook and some new phrases that will stick with me for life. Five simple words that hold a world of meaning: “Show Up For Your Life.” Let that sink in!! And “Life is a gift. What you do with it is your gift to the world.” These are just two examples of the nuggets of wisdom that I received that weekend. Definitely gave me new perspective!

A successful year

Some may define success by the money they made, or by the transactions they completed. Yes, that’s a part of it, but only a piece of a much bigger picture. My success was in developing meaningful and lasting friendships with the people I got to serve with their real estate transactions. Success was being trusted enough to send friends and family to. It was the hugs and the smiles and the triumph of achieving homeownership or of moving on to new chapters.
I have always been a helper. When I began this career five years ago, I didn’t fully realize the fulfillment I’d receive from helping people with their real estate needs. This career has surpassed my expectations in a big way and I have YOU to thank for it!!

2019

As we embark upon a new year, let us all be aware of the good around us. Let us open our eyes to see the silver lining in every cloud and to recognize every hardship as an opportunity for learning and growth. Let us embrace every moment with the people we love. Let us be generous with our hearts and minds. Let us share with others, encourage each other, and lift each other up. Let us find humor in every situation and laugh every chance we get. Let us bring to the table what others need, and glean insight and knowledge from what is brought to us. Let us take the best care of ourselves - physically, spiritually, emotionally, and personally. Let us have the wisdom to say no to that which isn’t an absolute necessity or that which doesn’t bring us joy. Let us say yes to more of what brings us happiness. Let us conquer the hills and mountains before us, knowing that when we reach the peak we will have succeeded. Let us set our intentions for 2019 and accomplish that which we set out to do.

Peace and blessings and a Happy New Year to you all.
Much Love,

Melanie Esqueda
